20/20: Thomas Harley's OT blast sends Stars back to Western Conference Final
Fun one in Dallas as they close out the Presidents' Trophy winners.
Thomas Harley scored in overtime and the Dallas Stars defeated the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 in Game 6.
The Jets season is over, the Stars are headed to the Western Conference Final for the third straight season.
Here is the 20/20.
1. It was a 2-1 game, but there were parts about this win for the Stars that felt inevitable.
Whether it was play of Jake Oettinger or the way the Stars responded from an emotional goal by Winnipeg, the Stars felt inevitable in Game 6.
Going into overtime, after Sam Steel drew the game’s first penalty with 14.8 seconds remaining, it felt more like a question of when, rather than, if Dallas would win this game.
That, to me, is the mark of a great team. You don’t have to blow teams out, although that would be nice, you simply have to be that inevitable force that seems to find a way and right now the Stars are halfway there.
2. Let’s look at the overtime goal, a power play blast, by Harley.
It’s really nice work down low by Tyler Seguin who dug a rimmed puck off the boards and found Harley creeping in for the shot here.
Seguin was interviewed during the overtime intermission and quipped he didn’t think he'd be out there to start overtime.
He was, however, out there to finish it.
