Late night.

The Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild went to overtime for the first time in Game 3, with the Stars taking a 2-1 series lead after Wyatt Johnston scored in double overtime for a 4-3 victory.

Here is the 20/20, if you are reading this in the immediate aftermath, please know I plan to read through and edit again in the morning with fresh eyes.

1. This one feels pretty big in the momentum category.

After opening the series with a dud back in Game 1, and then struggling a bit at 5-on-5 in both Games 2 and 3, the Stars are back in control of the series with a 2-1 lead and a chance to really take control in Game 4.

2. For Minnesota, it’s hard not to look at the pure number of penalties taken in a game where the Stars had eight power plays.

The Wild have also had multiple penalties this series, including the fatal one early Thursday morning, where they’ve heaved the puck over the glass for delay-of-game infractions.
