I had almost a dozen readers reach out about Victory+ this morning, some in our chat (which you should check out) and some via email.
Here’s an example.
And as Court suggested I made some calls, reaching out to Stars president Brad Alberts to get some answers on things.
On Samsung TV and Apple TV: Alberts said he’s aware that those apps aren’t available yet, but note they will be available later this month. The note from Victory+ support email about airdropping to an AppleTV is simply a stop gap until the wider app release.
On The Ticket being part of Victory+: You may have noticed that The Ticket, the radio station that carries Stars games, is now part of the wider Victory+ network. According to Alberts live Ticket broadcasts will start on Victory+ on Sept. 25. He wasn’t what that meant for the SportsDay app, which is run by the Dallas Morning News and currently airs the station.
My pal Bob Sturm texted me to tell me that he believes Ticket broadcasts will continue to be aired on both the SportsDay app and Victory+, which business wise makes a ton of sense for the radio station.
On the Stars prospect games in Traverse City: The Stars will not be showing the prospect games this weekend on Victory+. Alberts has told me that’s something that will ideally happen in the future, but at this point the app and logistics aren’t set up well enough. The Stars first home preseason game will be the first real test of the live game capabilities.
Side note, I’ll have have the Traverse City prospects preview story up tomorrow. I spoke with Stars director of amateur scouting Joe McDonnell today about it and also chatted with Jim Nill.
I’m currently in Toronto, showing our beer league hockey movie, but will be working on that preview tonight.
As always, thanks for reading.
Hi Sean. I have DirecTV and subscribe to the NHL Center Ice package because I am able to watch the Stars when I am out of market. With the Victory+ app, how can we follow the Stars when we are out of the DFW market?
I'm out of market, but so far I like the content on Victory+.
Would you happen to know the story behind AHLTV moving to FloHockey?
