Catching up with Red Wings first-rounders Sebastian Cossa and Marco Kasper
A quick trip to the AHL to chat with two of the Wings better prospects.
ROSEMONT, Illinois — On Friday morning, before a game against the Chicago Wolves, Marco Kasper started working on tip drills near the end of morning skate.
He was right on top of the crease, feet essentially in the blue paint, easily tipping puck into an open net.
Long-time Grand Rapids Griffins equipment manager Brad Thompson, then yelled at Kasper to move further away from the net. Also noting, he’d likely score more goals that way.
This prompted a showdown at the end of practice between Kasper and Griffins goalie Sebastian Cossa, starting with deflected shots and eventually turning into a rebound-style drill.

It was a fitting matchup. Cossa and Kasper are too of the more intriguing prospects currently playing for Grand Rapids and I spoke to both before morning skate.
