Expected by Whom? Episode 23: A conversation with Michigan women's hockey coach Jenna Trubiano
A chat about hockey, a potential women's varsity program at Michigan, and what actually goes into coaching a club program.
My co-host Prashanth Iyer is on a much-deserved vacation right now, so I went solo this week on Expected by Whom? and was joined by Michigan women’s club hockey coach Jenna Trubiano.
Trubiano has both played for and been part of the Michigan women’s club hockey team for parts of 10 seasons.
The program has also been in the spotlight in recent months with more steam growing on Michigan potentially adding a Division I varsity program.
Trubiano has been part of those efforts as an advocate. It’s also part of the charter for the Michigan women’s club hockey team to become a gateway to eventual Division I athletics.
As I wrote about in the Detroit News earlier this month, people with power have started pushing for this as well. With Michigan regent Denise Ilitch calling for it at a board of regents meeting, and now a feasibility study is in motion.
Trubiano joins us to talk about those efforts, what really goes into a club college hockey program, and how she’s found her voice as a female role model.
It’s now available on your preferred podcast platform, while it’s also available right here on YouTube.
