I am totally dis-satisfied with anything from ESPN, and give TNT a B+ rating, but I’m all in with Victory+ with Josh and Razor. Brian and Sevy’s presentation(s) are Top Shelf and they make it enjoyable.
Happy to see this working for both Victory and the Stars. I was pretty skeptical that a free, over-the-air model would work but the viewership numbers are making it work. I do wonder if the Stars were in 12th place and looking at a lottery pick what the numbers would look like; you can't be a legit Cup contender every year.
I think one thing this illustrates is the pay models currently being employed across the league are long-term losers bc you limit your audience to die-hards and in 20 years what do you have? As the article notes, when you broadcast free you widen your audience and allow for some organic longterm growth.
I think that’s a good question where I don’t have the exact answer to without a Time Machine, but I think the long-term impact of fandom can outweigh the instant grab on diehards now
The Blues have had a couple of games on Victory+. I was going to watch one of them recently but the stream wasn't working on the Roku app. I happened to notice that Stars highlights and feature videos are Geolocation blocked for me. I don't think that is necessary (unless there is some monopoly on highlights I don't know about) or a great idea. I would be on the app more if I could just go there to find my Stars highlights instead of going to YouTube for the NHL or Sportsnet highlights.
Most of the time I watch Victory+ it’s about a minute behind my sports app I use (the Score) and it’s frustrating to be notified of goals a minute before I watch it. I know I can turn app notifications temporarily off but I don’t want to toggle that while I’m watching half the period on TV and the other half of the period I’m out by the grill and actually want the notices from the app. Wish it was more real-time.
That tends to be something I’ve noticed with lots of streaming platforms, kind of one of the weird spaces about streaming landscape in my view. It’s also been one of the reasons I tend to spend so much less time on twitter/blue sky than I used to during games.
I like Victory+, but the From Start option has disappeared from my app on different devices and I almost never get to start the game on time. There are still bugs to shake out apparently

It’s remarkable how poor the production quality is for those national games. The TNT sound mix is atrocious.
I hadn’t heard the WHL news, what a move for Victory+ ! I’m stoked to finally get to watch some junior hockey
