The Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers were both playing the first game of a back-to-back on Monday.

The Red Wings flew to St. Louis for a meeting with the Blues, Florida boarded a flight for Philadelphia.

Detroit heading into Monday already committed to playing Magnus Hellberg on Tuesday, splitting the back-to-back between their goalies. The Panthers were still finalizing a plan on whether Sergei Bobrovsky would start both games or if recently recalled backup Alex Lyon would go against the Flyers.

It brings up a wonderful time to ask the following, how should teams handle back-to-backs with their goalies?
