How Thomas Harley has won an NHL job in two games

Let's look at the tape from Thursday night against the Philadelphia Flyers

The Dallas Stars made a conscious decision this season to let Thomas Harley over-ripen in the AHL.

After trading for Nils Lundkvist and signing Colin Miller, the plan was for Harley to spend as much time in the AHL as possible, playing in every situation for the Texas Stars and being ready in case of an injury in the NHL.

The injuries in the NHL never happened, but the Stars defensive struggles as a unit in March, and the coaching mistrust of Lundkvist led to Harley getting a chance to prove he should be part of the Dallas plans when the postseason opens on April 17.

And through two games, he’s done just that.
