You can thank or blame Robert Tiffin for this piece coming out today.

He wrote last week about the Dallas Stars defense, and the struggles the organization has had in developing right-handed defenders, pointing out that since the 2013-14 season only three RHD to play NHL games were either drafted or developed by Dallas.

It’s a good piece, you should read it.

It also reminded me that I had a Lian Bichsel piece to write, which has effectively been sitting in my brain and was never put to paper until today, when I had a chance to recover from some hecticness surrounding the Stanley Cup Final.

Bichsel and I spoke at length on the morning of Game 5 of the Western Conference Final, when he told me that he would have been in the lineup if Chris Tanev wasn’t ready.

We also chatted about his unusual season, and how things have gone for the Stars top defensive prospect.

Call it what it is, Bichsel had a weird season.
