Great stuff Sean. Your callout on ESPN is right on the money. Just very odd they have struggled so much compared to TNT. I will stay with TNT in between periods even as they switch people in and out. I have surprisingly enjoyed Bowness the last few times I have watched. It seems no matter who they move in and out, it works.
I understand that much, but I wasn't sure if it was possible for another team to use one of their retention slots to eat some of his salary in exchange for pick(s) and player(s). I'm assuming Seggy would waive his NMC if a paper "trade" is required for this.
The benefit of something like this instead of leveraging LTIR is to keep Seguin on the ice while also allowing the Stars to make cap-compliant signings (i.e. Robo's and Harley's extensions). PuckPedia GM lets me do this, but I wasn't sure if it was actually possible or not.
Obviously, no team would take on a portion of a player's salary for free, but using LTIR and continually buying TDL rentals will cost us any way.

Could we avoid the "tough decisions" in summer 2026 if we get a team to retain on Seggy's last year? Any idea what it might cost?
he has a full no-move clause and likes living in Dallas. He's not going anywhere.

Well if he was going to not play, which isn’t the case right now, it would just he an LTIR move
