My Three Thoughts on Red Wings-Devils
Detroit opened the season with a challenge against a trendy pick to win the Stanley Cup.
The Detroit Red Wings opened their season on Thursday, falling 4-3 on the road to the New Jersey Devils.
These are my quick thoughts after the game.
1. Jake Walman and Moritz Seider were very good.
I thought Jake Walman and Moritz Seider did a nice job with a tough matchup against the Devils speed, particularly the top line centered by Jack Hughes.
Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde new that speed could be an issue against the Devils, he actually embraced the challenge in media availability on Wednesday, and he and associate coach Bob Boughner deserve some credit here for getting the better defensive matchups even when they didn’t have last change.
