My Three Thoughts on Red Wings-Stars (prospect tournament edition)
Dallas beat Detroit 4-2 to open the tournament.
The Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings played in the Traverse City Prospects Tournament on Thursday.
It was a weird day, where the ice was choppy and sloppy. The rink the Stars and Red Wings played on actually had to be abandoned mid-game earlier in the day when the Columbus Blue Jackets and Toronto Maple Leafs prospects game was halted because of a dangerous hole in the ice along the boards.
The game itself was also sloppy, which should be expected for the first game of a prospects tournament, and Dallas won 4-2. Detroit was the better team overall, controlled possession and dominated the shot attempts (I’m sorry, I don’t have the Corsi to formally back that up), but Dallas capitalized on some turnovers and got better goaltending.
Here are my thoughts on the game.
