On cooking, the coast, and goalie development with Sebastian Cossa
The Red Wings top goalie prospect is biding his time in Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio — It’s hard to find something you can’t cook in an air fryer.
And if the Detroit Red Wings plan works out, and Sebastian Cossa eventually becomes an NHL franchise goalie, maybe a smart company will pony up and have him pitch their air fryer when he’s not trying to pitch shutouts.
“I’ve got my air fryer, I’ve got my recipe book, I’m learning as I go,” Cossa said. “Pretty much at the basics right now, some tacos, pasta with chicken, but we’ll start getting more creative here.”
You can do that with an air fryer.
“It’s unreal,” Cossa said. “You can get a good breakfast in there, cook some bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. You can cook anything in there.”
I didn’t drive to Toledo to discuss air fryers with the Wings goalie prospect.
And after a tangent about how to make and bake sandwiches in the air fryer, one of my go-to lunches each week (“money, eh?” according to Cossa), we actually got to the concept at hand.
Why a first-round pick, 15th overall in 2021, is playing with the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL, and why at this point it’s the perfect spot for the 20-year-old in his opinion.
