My local ECHL team also had their school-day game today. Any idea why the kids leaving early is a consistent thing?

It might have to do with the bus schedule. Field trip busses and drivers are the same ones that do the morning and afternoon bus routes. They might not be from the same district as the school attending the game, which means they need extra travel time after dropping kids off to get to their normal route, plus time to refuel if needed. With the ridiculously early start times to school days (seriously, no 1st grader should have to be at school at 7 am; this is bad for their development, and one reason my son goes to school in our home district and not the one I teach in, even though I teach in a better funded district), busses have to be ready for dismissal as early as 2:00 pm at some schools. Add in sports teams leaving early for away games (some of our sports district rivals are an hour away) and the bus schedules get tight. Anyway, that's my theory.
