Every so often I like to sit down and chat hockey with my pal Bob Sturm, who is the author over at Sturm Stack, which covers all of the Dallas sports landscape. This time, with the Olympics, it was time to have a chat about the first best-on-best Olympic tournament since 2014.

Mostly Dallas Cowboys coverage, but plenty more from the DFW sports landscape.

Bob: Sean, it’s been a bit, but I cannot tell you how excited I am for this February Tournament we have before us. It will happen quickly as it will be 11 days from start-to-finish, but it should be wonderful. Best on best in the hockey world is a rare treat, so let’s let the joys wash over us. Yes, it might not be ideal game times and yes, we all run the risk of injury to key members of our NHL sides, but I am a true believer in the juice being worth the squeeze when it clearly means so much to the competitors.

That might be a good place to start, right? I think to so many in this sport, couldn’t we actually suggest that a gold medal for their country might mean as much or more with regards to even a Stanley Cup when we talk about these guys? I know soccer has a similar relationship with the World Cup over any club titles, but I think it is probably a fair claim to suggest that whether it is Canada, Sweden, Finland, or our United States, this means a lot to these players and by extension, these nations. I imagine you have some thoughts on this.
