so to give you an idea, there isn't an exact line... the medical staff will clear a player basically on the level of "will it get worse if they play." Which is a weird line, but it's been the best way it's been explained to me. So while it may be painful/impact performance, a cleared "healthy player," is not always anywhere near 100 percent. Players also tend to bring things to the medical staff more in the regular season, players don't like to admit being hurt in the playoffs. It's an entire system that's really grey as opposed to black and white.... not sure if this answer helped, but hopefully it adds some context.
