Sorry for your loss. I've gone thru this too many times in life, and the two rescues we have now will be the last for us as we move into our retired phase. Side note, I graduated from Tivy High School in the late 70's.

thanks Tim, and small world with the Kerrville connections, we only spent limited time there, but enjoyed the hill country

Why do we keep adopting dogs when it hurts so much when they are taken from us? Because they are the best! I grew up with a cockapoo and it had so much personality - it was a very quirky, lovable beast. We have had several absolute winners of dogs, including one that was totally untrainable, but so devoted to our family that he took on a bobcat when my son got home from work at midnight and did not see the bobcat jump down from the big tree nearby - but Bandit did. Unfortunately he cornered it in his dog house where the bobcat had fled. Had to face a cornered bobcat, took some facial swipes but won. We lost a lab mix 2.5 years ago and it broke our hearts. But we decided 9 days ago to adopt a blue heeler / beagle mix that has spent the last couple years in shelters. He is just the most loving and fast-adjusting dog we have ever had. We are out of town today and are already feeling like we miss our new dog, Mick's company and our son has sent us several pictures to reassure us all is well.

Sean, it is a tough thing you are experiencing, but you sound like someone who will give away your heart again, and it will be rewarded. Hang in there!

So sorry for your family’s loss, Sean. Cooking boiled chicken and rice for Stella’s upset stomach right now and letting a few tears out 🫶 We’ll give the dogs some extra hugs today

Thank you for writing this. I truly appreciate you letting the world know about your Lady Byng. We lost our two dogs to old age in pretty quick succession 1.5 years ago and I am still mourning their loss and not ready to start anew with another pup just yet.

thanks Matthew

Lady Byng will live in your heart. She wants you to remember her with joyful memories. You shared an unbreakable bond. She was both blessed and a blessing. You were so intertwined that you will keep looking hopefully for her when you wake up in the morning or come home from a log and tiring trip.
