Great job Sean! Your hockey world information is much appreciated. Your reporting gives context to my Stars fandom unrealistic expectations!!! Sometimes! “What do you mean we don’t have the cap room???”
I’m starting to become concerned with this subscription model. I subscribed because I like your work and respect your opinion. But if you continue to sell your services to places like EP Rinkside because they pay for your travel to the SCF, then what am I paying for, and will it continue to get marginalized every time another service buys your time? I can’t subscribe to service after service because that’s not financially feasible for me. You may want to consider coming up with some sort of statement, and I apologize if there is one already I don’t know about, that let’s (potential) subscribers know what content they can expect from you and when your “priority” articles will be available elsewhere. Thanks.
My doing work for EP Rinkside doesn’t impact the work here. If anything it improves the product here because I’m able to be more present in hockey world because of them willing to pay for my travel. If someone is paying for me to go somewhere, I will make sure I’m delivering. The only reason this site will have on the ground cup final things is because EP is a great partner for me.
Until I make enough here for this to be my only job, I need to take other work to feed my family. This has been the case entire time you’ve been subscribed, and I don’t believe it’s hurt the content.
Thanks for the reply. And I completely understand where you’re coming from. Not unlike streaming services and sports TV viewing, yours is an ever changing, volatile market now, and all anyone can do is make decisions best for them at this point. I just hope when everything shakes out, it’s not like in the movie Demolition Man where Taco Bell is the lone surviving restaurant chain after the franchise wars. 😀
