Shap and Sturm: Should the Stars trade for J.T. Miller?
Talking deals and needs for the Stars with Bob Sturm.
Every so often I like to sit down and chat Dallas Stars hockey with my pal Bob Sturm, who is the author over at Sturm Stack, which covers all of the Dallas sports landscape.

And with the NHL trade deadline less than two months a way, and the rumors starting to swirl, let’s make sense of it all for the Stars.
Bob: Sean, I have been busy looking at defensive tackles from Ohio State, Kentucky, and Michigan this week so I look to you for your insight on the pressing matter of the week that I keep getting from readers (and I am positive you do, too): What are the Stars looking to do with their Tyler Seguin LTIR money? It isn’t that they are bad at all – they are quite good!
But, they could use another piece or two, it would seem and have a chance to address some short-comings. So, let’s start there. Do we agree on the shortcomings? What do you think this team needs the most as we enter late January?
Sean: Yeah, it’s a fascinating space for the Stars, because with Seguin’s injury timeline we are looking at a couple variables we have to establish first.
First, Seguin’s return is kind of all over the place at the moment, it could be four months, it could be six. I’ve heard the Stars are being patient, but also would like some more clarity in that realm – is Seguin back in Round 1 of the playoffs even realistic? Or is this something that might keep him out until the Western Conference Finals or later? If it’s going to be longer, the need to shop for a forward becomes even more pressing.
