Some quick thoughts on the Jason Robertson/Ottawa Senators talk after the Tkachuk trade
Happy Monday, let's chat about something that may or not be news.
Happy Monday.
If you missed it, yesterday was a pretty big day in the hockey world as the Florida Panthers swung big and traded for Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk, sending three first-round picks and a second-rounder to Canada’s capital.
It’s a move that feels like it’s been in the works for a couple years now, Tkachuk hasn’t been shy about wanting to play with his brother, Matthew, and this offseason has already been defined by rumors and actual trade requests by members of the gold-medal winning USA Olympic team.
Now that Tkachuk has been traded, there’s been some natural speculation and rumor mongering about what the Senators will do with their newfound cap space and draft capital.
Which, of course, brings us to the Senators and the potential of trading for Jason Robertson. There have been multiple reports that the Senators are interested in Robertson and apparently making a push to trade for the Dallas Stars forward. This, in theory, could be done through either a trade with the Stars or via offer sheet since Robertson is restricted free agent.
