Stars GM Jim Nill on new roles for Bourque and Stankoven, and much more

I caught up with Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill on Monday at the World Junior Summer Showcase.
We talked heavily about Stars first-round pick Emil Hemming, who was playing in the game we were watching, and is going to play in the OHL this season with the Barrie Colts.

Monday was my first in-person viewing for Dallas Stars 2024 first-round pick Emil Hemming, and because of the circumstances it was hard to get a good read on the Finnish forward at the World Junior Summer Showcase.
Nill and I also talked about several other things, which I figured I’d share À la carte today.
On the plans this coming season for players like Mavrik Bourque and Logan Stankoven being everyday NHLers from training camp.
Nill is always careful to point out that players make decisions and have to earn roles, but he wasn’t shy about talking about Bourque and Stankoven as NHL regulars.
He feels the forwards are pretty set, and compared it to last season where the Stars had an idea of roles for everyone, with a couple places for developmental growth across the lineup.
