From an armchair GM perspective, the Dallas Stars are one of the most fascinating teams in the NHL.

They are a Stanley Cup contender looking to add before the NHL trade deadline, and with Tyler Seguin’s injury — which will likely keep him out until the end of the regular season — the Stars will have enough cap space to add about anyone you can imagine.

Stars general manager Jim Nill has also been active about adding pieces in recent years to bolster his Stanley Cup chances, last season making the deadline deal for Chris Tanev.

So I caught up with Nill on Tuesday morning before the Stars morning skate in Toronto to chat about where and what things might look like for his team before the deadline.

There are rumors and murmurs the Stars are big-fish hunting, looking to add a top-tier player, which makes it fun media fodder to wonder just who Dallas is targeting.

“It’s fun reading those isn’t?” Nill said, while laughing. “At least I know who to go look for now.”
