This isn’t a new concept, but it’s one that came up earlier this week when I recorded a postgame episode of Spits & Suds after the Dallas Stars 3-2 loss to the Boston Bruins on Monday.

If you want to listen to the full episode you can click this link, but the crux of the idea that I brought up was that the Stars made a mistake by playing 11 forwards and 7 defenders on Monday. They should have had the foresight to waive Joel Hanley on Sunday to open up a roster spot for either Logan Stankoven or Mavrik Bourque.

I had people both here and in a Stars Discord channel ask me if I could expand on these thoughts.
