I think age finally caught up to Joe. I wish he had gotten his cup before retiring, but not all of the great ones get rings and some bozos get multiples. I have appreciated having him on the Stars and hope he enjoys his retirement endeavors. I do wonder if he will stick to being a restaurant owner (does he still do that?) or try to find something in hockey.
Joe was always a Stars family leader. That’s why it is so fitting - he could theoretically be selfish and try to play another year, but he would not do that to his fellow Dallas Stars family members. He knows in his heart that this is the right time to stop and his teammates are the right reasons to do so.
Joe is a perfect example of how a high hockey IQ and superior anticipation skills overcome average size, strength and speed!!!
He had the heart and determination to succeed, a great role model in how he played the game straight up whistle to whistle.
Happy Trails Joe!!!
The videos after the last game made it look like the players knew.
