Sad for the individual as he is truly a good person and brilliant in many ways. However, the curtain had fallen and it is time for him to be part of a new show.
The one thing I consistently heard about him was "he doesn't see the game" and "has a low hockey IQ." I hate that it didn't work out for him but it had become clear that the 20 goal season was the one-off and not these following seasons.
Seems to be the greatest of guys, I really wish him the best and hope he does well from here on.
Smart guy. Great person. And many elite hockey skills. But it underscores the importance of the elusive concept of “hockey sense”. Denis just doesn’t seem to have it, and it’s likely something he’ll never acquire. After nearly eight years since the Stars drafted Gurianov 12th overall (ahead of such players as Matthew Barzal, Kyle Connor and Thomas Chabot), it was time for the Stars to move on. I wish Denis all the best in Montreal and beyond, wherever his career may take him. With the likes of Stankoven, Bourque and a couple others waiting in the wings, the Stars have forward talent that needs a place to play, and at a far lower cost. It is a business, after all.

It wasn't happening here, for whatever reason
