In general, I usually access the app to watch Stars games via Firestick with my TV. But the overall experience has not been particularly good. The app Home Screen and menu are very pedestrian, in my view, and often don’t update, so you have to go searching for the game that’s coming on. Hopefully the interface and the experience will improve over time.
What are the financial effects to the Stars if more teams come on board to this specific platform and how might it affect hockey ops (outside of salaries which are capped obviously)?
I am curious, how does Victory plus make money if it is free to consumers? What is the advantage of using Victory plus vs. ESPN as i use now. This is the first I am hearing of Victory plus.
Victory plus is in the Dallas market only for the stars and in so cal only for ducks, so if you are out market you couldn’t use it. Basically replaced local tv. As far as making money, it’s like traditional tv — ads and data drive their revenue
“We’re working on it”… is getting old… The delay in getting the Samsung fix is a HUGE business model failure, and it’s still a success. The primarily phone APP generation of engineers/developers did NOT know their “broadcast” market.
I’ve got a workaround, but many don’t and are thus using substandard 3rd party connections…
The size of the download mkt should make getting Samsung’s attention easier… imagine what the Victory+ mkt would be if users of the worlds largest big screen TV mfr had it?
I will say that the Victory+ response to emails has been 1st Class Customer Support! As are the broadcasts! (excepting the Manning-cast bs).
apparently the app implication on Samsung also takes longer than other platforms, that's what I was told additionally, not sure how long it should take, but that's what I was told
I just complained on X about the video coverage. Not sure who’s in charge, but there’s a noticeable difference in the shots they select for the webcast. A lot more ‘in tight’ close up action shots to where you can’t really see what’s going on. The game moves too fast and when the puck breaks out it takes a moment to re-focus the shot. I’d rather see the wider shot and be able to see more of the ice/danger zone and who’s trying to sneak down into a scoring position. Other than that, I’ve been happy with the coverage and the overall performance of the webcast - just that one production comment. Go Stars!
the Stars use of below-the-net cam has always been a complaint for me, the production crew (which is the same as Bally's before) is a big fan of it, and I would prefer it got used more selectively.

None really, victory+ is a different company, so adding new teams wouldn’t help or hurt stars bottom line technically.

Thank you
I know plenty of people outside DFW who access the app via VPN without any problems.
