What does an NHL capologist do?
We had the Stars assistant GM join Expected by Whom? this week to discuss how it all works.
How teams internally manage the salary cap has been a hot topic this week after the Washington Capitals bought CapFriendly.
It’s a move that reportedly has sent tremors through the league, according to multiple reports some teams weren’t ready to lose the public-facing resource.
I wrote a little bit about it earlier this week here:
Why did the Washington Capitals purchase CapFriendly?
News broke on Sunday that the Washington Capitals are buying and effectively shuttering CapFriendly. The transaction won’t be official until early July, which means the website which tracks and publicly presents NHL contract information has roughly four weeks before it goes dark.
With that news in minded, I wanted to give people a better idea of how teams internally manage this.
Thankfully Stars assistant GM Mark Janko joined Prashanth Iyer this week on Expected by Whom?
Janko has a fascinating back story and is now the Stars capologist and CBA expert for the Stars.
Here is the episode, you can also find Expected by Whom? wherever you get your podcasts.
