With the Michael Bunting trade the Stars are embracing some chaos
And what that all means for the looming battle with Minnesota.
The Dallas Stars have decided to embrace some chaos.
Heading into tomorrow’s NHL trade deadline and having won 10 straight, the Stars made a pair of moves in the 48 hours to add Tyler Myers and Michael Bunting, shipping out a trio of draft picks in the process.
Myers has affectionally been called the “chaos giraffe,” for his approach to the sport. He plays a high-event, often unpredictable game, which at a minimum creates the Stars blue line way more interesting.
Bunting has now been moved in three consecutive trade deadlines and has 31 points in 61 games so far this season for the Nashville Predators, he was also a target NHL scouts thought would be an ideal Dallas fit when I polled them last month in this piece over at D Magazine.
Multiple scouts brought up Michael Bunting, the Nashville Predators winger who has been moved at each of the past two deadlines.
“That feels like a Jim Nill trade to me,” one scout said. “He’s a good 200-foot guy. You can probably put him on one of those top two lines to open up some other things.”
There’s a couple interesting things about these moves, especially with them happening in quick succession.
