Sean, curious about your thoughts on the continued NCAA rejection of CHL players as "professionals", since they get pittance to pay for game day meals. Now that college athletes can get serious money with endorsement agreements, is their stance on the CHL not ridiculous? Seems past due for reevaluation. These kids ought to have US college options after they age out without a pro career.

it's a great question, and I went to get a better answer the other day of why this continues even with the NIL age and such... so basically it's this... because NHL teams can assign contracted players to CHL teams, it's effectively a pro-league in the eyes of the NCAA. You can get paid, but you can't get paid for playing, if that makes sense.

On the CHL front, they do have an education plan that is flawed, but does exist. CHL players get a year college covered for each year they play in the CHL, however this plan has flaws, I've been told, by agents and is too easily avoided sometimes.

Love this piece. Lots of good stuff. I had no idea about the new NCAA rule and how it's impacting players. Do you think it's a positive change?

I don't mind the one-time transfer change without sitting out, if coaches are allowed to leave, players should to.
