I like the quick round up of a few stories that probably wouldn't warrant an article of their own, and doing this on Tuesday or Thursday makes perfect sense as those are days when many of us are already thinking about hockey because there's a game that night. (And the set schedule is a good reminder to come check the site, too).
I agree with having a few summaries of news from around the league that may not have been “breaking news” or major stories from the day/week. There’s SO much that is happening on a constant basis right now which makes it super easy to overlook some really great stories.
I would probably have been less likely to get into hockey if the Stars hadn’t been one of the 7:30 holdouts. I was living in Temple south of Waco in 2018-19 and wasn’t getting off work until 5. I had a friend with an extra seat in his season tickets and he would invite me to come. If the Stars were starting at 7 I might well have turned him down since it takes two hours to get to Dallas, but because the Stars games started at 7:30 I made the decision to accept. It made for some very long nights but now that I’m in DFW I’m a Stars season ticket holder as well.
Dallas rush hour traffic is bad. The American Airlines Center *already* takes until midway through the first period to properly fill up. I can only imagine how much worse it would be with a 7pm start.
This is a really good point I hadn’t thought of. 7pm is great if I’m watching on tv (which is 99.9% of the time). However, when my friend offered me her ticket (for free!) for a same-day game, I just couldn’t justify it with getting off of work at 5pm, realistically closer to 5:15pm, then traveling from north DFW (traffic estimated 1.5 hours minimum), time to deal with getting into the AAC, etc.
Hmm, I don’t know much about Substack and its features, but it would be cool if there was some way the post about where to watch tonight’s games could send out a notification when it’s updated. Having the post pinned and saving it does help remind me though!
How about a brief section commenting on the teams before the season starts. For us more casual fans we are not aware of the key trades and moves during the off season and need to get caught up before the games start. I normally would do that vis CBS sports or the Athletic but would love a section on it here. (Especially for the devils :) )

So what I'm saying is, "I like it".

Perfect read to kick off the day.

I will look into that, still learning all the substack features
